Baker (Job description)

Position Summary

This position performs a variety of baking duties primarily the preparation and baking of bread, doughnuts, cookies, and other pastries.

Responsibilities:

  • Prep and bake bread, doughnuts, and cookies.
    • Understands the importance of recipes.
    • Proficient at making all dough mixtures in a timely manner using correct procedures.
    • Understands rotation and shelf life of raw dough.
    • Knows how to proof bread.
    • Recognizes the importance of time and temperature.
    • Fries, frosts, and fills donuts.
  • Clean and disinfect work area; set-up and break-down work station; and follow and ensure compliance with sanitation and cleaning procedures.
  • Responsible for opening the bakery on time.
  • Able to close the entire bakery

Other Responsibilities:

  • Interacts positively with customers.
  • Understands basic Front of House duties to assist with high customer demand.

Qualifications

  • Home kitchen baking experience
  • Commercial baking experience or culinary courses as a baker is a plus.
  • Commercial kitchen experience is a plus

Hours

  • Typical working hours are 4:00 am to 12:00 pm, Tuesday to Saturday (40 hrs).

Pay and Benefits

  • $14-16/hr based on experience
  • PTO/sick days
  • Quarterly incentive based on bakery performance

Physical Requirements:

Most work stations involve standing walking and frequently lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds. Occasional activities include sitting; climbing or balancing; and stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and moving objects up to 50 pounds.
